*Disclaimer: I do not always read the most academic books, or the most critically acclaimed books. I read books for fun and honestly one's that get me the hell out of my own reality and into a made up one.

Hey, what are the Kim Harrison books about? I finished the Sookie Stackhouse (i.e. True Blood) series in January and have been looking for something else.
I love Lauren Weisberger for good chick lit. Chasing Harry Winston is another one she's written if you're looking for more!
A couple of well-written ones I really enjoyed lately:
"The Fountainhead" Ayn Rand
(yes, it's academic/critically acclaimed/whatever, but it's also really GOOD)
"The Power of One" Bryce Courtenay
"The Time Traveler's Wife" Audrey Niffenegger (I'm sure you've read that one, but just in case!)
